Walter David Green Jr. was born to Martha and Walter Green, Sr. on October 10, 1939, in Merigold MS. Walter went home to be with the Lord on March 20, 2017, at Little Company of Mary Hospital. His only sibling, Jimmie Austin, preceded him in death.
Walter confessed a belief in Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. Kid Scott of the White Cloud M.B. Church in Merigold MS.
Walter attended Mound Bayou High School in Mound Bayou MS. He graduated from East Side H.S. in Cleveland MS. After high school, he met and married Sarah Dean Ward (now deceased) of Mound Bayou, Mississippi. From their union, they were blessed with the birth of his first daughter, Yolanda Renee, while living in Chicago. They then moved to Oakland, California and his second daughter, Cheryl Faye was born.
He eventually returned to Chicago where he met and married Delores Foster; they enjoyed a long lasting love and marriage fifty-two years. From this union, they were blessed with the births of three children; Shannon Lavon, Larry Darnell and Dionne Nicole.
He became a machine operator for Fullerton Metals where he worked for over thirty years. He retired in 2002.
Husband, father, grandfather, brother, Walter loved the outdoors. He fished for the elusive catfish and hunted small game. He was a master chef on the grill and loved spending time with family and friends. Walter was also a Mason who loved the brotherhood that this organization represented.
He leaves to remember him with love: Devoted wife, Delores; five children: Yolanda Williams (Alvie) Cheryl Green; Shannon Green (Lisa); Larry Green and Dionne Green; nine grandchildren, three sisters-in-law ; Dorothy Foster, Gloria Eaton, Juanita Foster, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
