Lillie Peoples, affectionately known as Tip, was born in Camilla,

Georgia on November 7, 1933 to her parents Lorse and Janie Louise Peoples. Both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister Lillian Peoples.

Lillie moved with her family to Chicago in 1946. She earned a Bachelor of Education degree from Chicago State University and a Masters of Arts degree in Inner City Studies from Northeastern Illinois University. Lillie spent over 40 years as an educator. She primarily taught elementary school students and also trained other teachers. She had a strong commitment to various community initiatives. She was a member of PUSH (People United To Save Humanity) for many years and served as a Chairperson of Woodson Schools New Park Advisory Committee. Lillie also served as President, Board of Directors of her Condominium Homeowner’s association for many years.

Lillie was always tough and strong, even as a young girl. She loved her family and was very close to her brother and aunts. She also loved to shop and travel. She had a keen awareness and interest in African American History

Peoples of Chicago; her aunts Sara Willingham of Atlanta, GA

And Mary Nell Macon of St. Petersburg, FL and many cousins and friends.
