Mr. Richard Joseph Dugan

Richard passed away peacefully Monday November 6th at Trinity Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

Richard was born at Eglin AFB in Okaloosa County FL. April 14, 1956. He was the oldest child of Violet Ellis and Bert Dugan. Richard was preceded in death by his mother Violet Dugan and brother Michael Dugan. He accepted Christ at an early age, baptized at Lilydale Progressive MBC, where he sang in the youth and young adult choir .Later in life he joined   St. Mark United Methodist Church where he sang in the Gospel choir.

Richard was raised in Chicago and attended Fernwood Elementary School. He graduated from Lindblom High School in 1974. While a student there he was a member of ROTC and played drums in jazz and marching bands. He began his college experience at Northern Illinois University. He earned a degree in Radio/TV from Chicago State University. He began a career at the Chicago Police Department in1983, retiring in 2012. Richard loved to travel and enjoyed music, singing and dancing.

Richard leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 10 years Cheryl. Father Bert (Jacqueline), Daughters Aleah Hollingsworth and Janae Garner Dugan. Brothers Steven, David (Angela), Bertram, Jason (Tara-Ann) Matthew all of Chicago and sister Angela from Los Angeles. Aunts Janet Croom of Texas, Lessie Route (Arthur) Barbara Ellis, Uncle Herman Ellis (Marilyn) all of Chicago. 3 nieces Mica, Rachel and Madilyn. 2 nephews   Jonah and Lennox, and a host of other relatives and friends.
