Mrs. Elizabeth Hearon

Born Into Time: May 10, 1937
Born Into Eternity: January 02, 2018

Elizabeth Hearon was born on May 10, 1937 in Slaughter, Mississippi to Romelia and Mack Smith, who preceded her n death. She was the eighth of nine children, and all but two sisters, have preceded her in death. Elizabeth made her transition on January 2, 2018.

Elizabeth attended grade school in Slaughter, MS, and commuted to Greenwood, Mississippi to attend High School, and there she met her sweetheart, Edward Hearon. She completed school in Memphis, TN, and after High School, moved to Chicago and later married Edward Hearon. To this union five children were born, Verhonda, Reginald, Deirdre Gaye and the twins, Steven and Lya. She raised a “bonus” daughter, Angela from an infant. Her husband and three of her children, Reginald, Deirdre and Lya preceded her in death.

Accepting Christ at an early age, she joined King Creek Baptist Church in Memphis, and after moving to Chicago, she became a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church under Reverend Clay Evans. After Reverend Evan’s retirement, she joined the Life Center Church, where Verhonda and her sons were active members.

She was known as Liz, Baby Sister and often affectionately called “Baye. She was a strong, resilient, independent, phenomenal woman who took care of her family and had a lot of love to give. She was a fantastic cook and family loved to eat dinner with her, and she loved to see you eat. She was multi-talented, a seamstress, loved to crochet, and had a lovely singing voice. She began quilting, after her retirement from Sears of 25 years and finally from the Post-Office in 2002. At this time, Deirdre had a stroke and she became a care-giver to her until Deirdre died in 2015. Liz took care of everyone who was close to her

Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Verhonda (Robert Reed, Jr.) and Angela; her son, Steven; a step-son, Thurmon; ten grandchildren, Carlton, Robert III, Kyle, Brittany, Kiana, Kellie and Kaylin, Aniyah, Thomora and Savannah; two great grandchildren, Christian and Bryce; her sisters, Effie Dee of Tulsa, OK and Bernice Smith of Chicago; her sister-n-laws, Willie Esther, Annie Lois, Alice Louise, Patricia Ann, Ernestine; her brother-in-law, Darry and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
