Mrs. Virgina Jean Jordan

Born Into Time: September 20, 1926
Born Into Eternity: February 07, 2016

Virginia "Jean" Jordan (nee Williams), was born September 20, 1926 to the union of Bessie (nee Oneswby) and Robert Williams, Sr. in Columbus, Ohio. Her siblings were Robert "Bud" Williams, Jr. and Clara Cowings, who preceded her in death.

Jean pursued a nursing career at an early age and worked many years as a registered nurse. She was united in marriage to Deacon John Jordan, who affectionately called her "Sugar Pie" and preceded her in death. Although no children were born of this union, she was "Aunt Jean" to all of the family's many nieces and nephews.

Jean was raised in the church and was a very spiritual and faithful Christian. She was a member of New Covenant M.B. and an active choir member. She later joined Greater Bethesda M.B. Church, where she served as an active member of The Deaconess Board and church nurse for many long years until she became ill.

Jean was known for her beautiful smile, winning personality, and witty sense of humor. She was genuinely concerned about the welfare of others. Jean also loved music—gospel, jazz and blues, and owned a vast collection of which she cherished. She was a long-time resident of the Paul Stewart Senior residences located at 400 East 41st Street in Chicago, Illinois.

Jean is survived by her cousin Camilla “Peaches” Paul; Godson Andre Clark, a host of nieces, nephews, dear friends and her loving Greater Bethesda M.B. Church family.
