Ms. Marie Estella Reid

Born Into Time: May 22, 1956
Born Into Eternity: February 28, 2016

Marie Estella Reid entered into this life on May 22, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois. She was one of four siblings born thru the union of Mr. and Mrs. John henry Reid, Jr. Her parents preceded her in death.

Marie attended Beethoven Elementary school and Dunbar High School I Chicago. In June of 1978 Marie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Economics and History from Chicago State University.

Marie began her work career at Johnson Products in Chicago. Later she obtained employment at IBM, earning numerous awards for productivity and quality of work. Marie remained at IBM until her retirement in July of 2013. She was a highly valued and esteemed employee.

Marie was always a quiet, reserved, reflective kind of person. She was a lady of few words, but when she spoke, you felt the value and passion that was uniquely Marie. Never one for unnecessary conflict, she usually sought the path of least resistance. Marie avoided negativity and drama as best she could, by keeping her outlook positive and refusing to ‘drink of the Kool-Aid’ as she would say. Her most favorite quote was “…I don’t understand why anyone would choose to live their life like a 24 hour Jeffery Springer show”. Marie’s quotes were always witty and on point. They shall be missed.

Marie leaves to mourn, her sisters; Myrtle Turner, Diane Reid-Hargraves, Ruby Toliver, her brothers; Larry Reid, Sr. and John L. Reid and a host of nieces and nephews. Marie also leaves a special niece; Tine Turner.

May the God of all comfort give our peace at this time. Take comfort from the scriptures that their will be a resurrection. (John 5:28,29) see also Revelation 21:3,4
