Mr. Henry Keith Bledsoe

Born Into Time: January 29, 1943
Born Into Eternity: June 29, 2017

Henry Keith Bledsoe, the eldest of three children born to Henry and Doris Bledsoe, was born in Chicago, Illinois. Keith graduated from Beale Elementary School in 1957 and Englewood High School in 1961. After high school Keith attended the University of Illinois at Navy Pier and graduated from Roosevelt University earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education, in 1966. He also received his Master of Education Degree from the National College of Education, in Evanston, Illinois in 1982. Keith was an extremely conscientious student and possessed a passion for learning.

Keith entered the teaching profession as a science teacher and spent his entire career working at Yale Elementary School. Being a talented and dedicated teacher, he always went the extra mile to spark the interest and curiosity of his students. His classroom environment was always filled with tropical fish, chameleons, tadpoles and an assortment of other small creatures. Keith always looked for opportunities to improve his students. He rewarded them with field trips, special recognitions and parties were always on the agenda. He was consistently evaluated as a superior teacher.

Always taking a personal interest in his students lives, he became a mentor, role model and father figure to many.

Keith was an avid fisherman who developed a keen interest in camping and the outdoors. He shared his passion with his only child, Tempestt. Many weekends were spent in Indiana, Michigan and the Wisconsin Dells chasing “the one that got away.” Keith adored these very special times with Tempestt as his “running buddy.” They spent much quality time together doing many things they both loved.

Keith’s family also includes his special friend, Dorothy. They supported each other and shared special moments with family and friends.

Keith leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory, his daughter Tempestt (Darryl); father, Henry; brother, Marc; sister, Gail; niece, Alexis; and great niece Anayah. He also leaves a host of cousins and friends.

To the family of Mr. Bledsoe
My condolences for your loss. Mr. Bledsoe was that teacher young boys from englewood needed in 5th grade. I think I was in his class of 1967 at Yale. He taught us more than the lesson plan. He showed us how to respect ourselves and others. Sorry I missed his homegoing. Thank you for sharing him with us.
